Introduction

• inflammation of the trochlea

Pathology

• inflammation of the superior oblique tendon trochlea apparatus
• inflammation causes swelling & fraying of the superior oblique tendon which increases friction of the tendon passing through the trochlea which in turn adds to the inflammation

Clinical-manifestations

• localized swelling, tenderness, & severe pain around the affected eye
• point tenderness in the upper medial rim of the orbit

Complications

• may trigger or worsen migraines
  
• disease interaction(s) of trochleitis with migraine
