Introduction

• Diseases associated with ingestion of shellfish:
• Vibrio species

• V. vulnificus (raw oysters)
• V. parahaemolyticus (undercooked shellfish)

• hepatitis A virus
• Norwalk virus

• Migraine headaches may be precipitated by shellfish. Food allergies may occur with ingestion of shellfish.
