Indications

• suspected factor VII deficiency with prolonged PT, but normal aPTT & thrombin time; normal RVVT suggests factor VII deficiency
• part of a screening panel for antiphospholipid antibodies; RVVT should be prolonged in the presence of antiphospho- lipid antibodies

Notes

• Russell viper venom activates factor X directly.
