• fungal infection with cryptococcus

Methods

• species & strain-specific identification uses PCR to amplify ribosomal DNA sequences & restriction enzyme analysis to obtain complex fingerprints, unique for each strain

Specimen

• whole blood ( ACD or EDTA)
• cerebrospinal fluid ( CSF)
• tissue
• store whole blood at 4 degrees C
• store tissue at -20 degrees C or below
