Etiology

Epidemiology

  • 1-2% of population
  • 4% of middle-aged men & 2% of middle aged women
  • more common in older age
  • only a small percentage of cases are diagnosed

Pathology

Clinical-manifestations

  • less likely in patient with stroke
  • less likely in patient with stroke
  • snoring, gasping &/or choking episodes during sleep
  • may be reports of witnessed apneas
  • patients may be asymptomatic
