Indications
- prophylaxis for allergen-induced asthma
- prophylaxis for exercise-induced asthma
Dosage
-
- 2 puffs QID, 1.75 mg/activation (16.2 g)
- 2%, pH 4.0-5.5%, osmolality 270-330 mOsm/kg [5]
Pharmacokinetics
- no significant systemic absorption ( ophthalmic)
- no significant systemic absorption ( ophthalmic)
- elimination via liver
Adverse-effects
- not common (1-10%)
Mechanism-of-action
-
- 4 to 10 times more powerful than cromolyn
- inhibits activation of macrophages
- inhibits activation of T helper cells
- decreases bronchial hyper-responsiveness
- decreased chemotaxis of eosinophils
