• Multivesicular bodies are formed from late endosomes.

• The MVB pathway mediates delivery of transmembrane proteins into the lumen of vacuoles &/or lysosomes.
• ESCRT1 orchestrates the MVB pathway into vacuoles
• ESCRT3 orchestrates the MVB pathway into lysosomes
