Introduction

• A middle value.
  

• 1/2 of the members of a set are greater than the median
• 1/2 of the members of a set are less than the median
  
• Conditions:
  

• odd number of values in the set: member of set satisfying above conditions
• even number of values in the set: the mean of the two middle numbers
