- difficulty breathing, hives, itching, reddening of skin (especially around eyes & ears), tiredness, convulsions, encephalitis, confusion, severe headache, stiff neck, vomiting, diplopia, thrombocytopenic purpura, prolonged fever > 103 F, optic neuritis, hypersensitivity
