Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction
From Anvita Health Wiki
Introduction
- A measure of pumping action of the left ventricle of the heart.
- Normal 65 +/- 8 %, 56-78%.
- Lower values indicate ventricular dysfunction.
- LVEF is the difference between left ventricular end diastolic volume & left ventricular end systolic volume ( stroke volume) divided by left ventricular end diastolic volume (i.e. the % of blood emptied from the left ventricle through the aortic valve during systole).
* stroke volume (SV) * -------------------------- * end diastolic volume (EDV)
