Introduction

• A disk between adjacent vertebrae, consisting of:
• anulus fibrosis (an outer fibrous part)
• nucleus pulposus (a soft fibrocartilaginous central part)

• There is no IV disc between C1 & C2 vertebrae. The most inferior functional disc is between L5 & S1 vertebrae.
