• required for the high affinity binding of IL18 to its receptor complex
• in association with IL18R1 mediates IL18-dependent activation of NF-kappa-B & JNK
• does NOT interact directly with IL18
• component of IL-18 receptor complex

• strongly expressed in T-cells polarized with IL12
• coexpressed with IL18R1 in Th1 cells
• induced by IFN-alpha & IL-12 in NK cells & T-cells
