Introduction
- Tests for antibodies to HCV antigens. 2nd generation testing (available in 1993) incorporates more antigens than 1st generation test.
- Insensitive for detection of acute HCV.

- Use in combination with:
- hepatitis C virus recombinant immunoblot assay ( RIBA)
