Introduction

• T4 ( CD3, CD4)+ lymphocyte.

• Development of immature T-cell precursors ( thymocytes) to CD4 helper T-cells correlates with T-cell receptor specificity for major histocompatibility complex class 2 molecules.
• ZNF67 expression is necessary & sufficient for commitment of CD4+ cell lineage.
• Normally 60% of circulating lymphocytes.
• Normal range: 1000-2300/ uL in peripheral blood.
• Pool size: 2 x 10E11
• 1/2 life 156 days
• Cytokines produced by both Th1 & Th2 T-helper cells

• GM-CSF
• IL-2
• IL-3
• IL-10
• IL-13
