Function

• degrades bioactive fatty acid amides to their corresponding acids thus terminate their signaling functions, including:

• oleamide
• endogenous cannabinoid, anandamide
• myristic amide

• hydrolyzes monounsaturated substrate anandamide preferentially compared to polyunsaturated substrates
• inhibited by O-aryl carbamates
