Introduction
- Inflammation of tissues within the eyeball.
Etiology
- eye infection
- post-operative, generally within 6 weeks of surgery
Clinical-manifestations
- decreased visual acuity
- red eye, conjunctival injection
- pain, photophobia
- corneal edema, corneal opacification
- hypopyon ( pus in anterior chamber)
- symptoms of infection in adjacent structures or distant site
Management
- immediate referral to ophthalmology for intravitreal antibiotics
