Introduction

• Inflammation of tissues within the eyeball.

Etiology

• eye infection
• post-operative, generally within 6 weeks of surgery

Clinical-manifestations

• decreased visual acuity
• red eye, conjunctival injection
• pain, photophobia
• corneal edema, corneal opacification
• hypopyon ( pus in anterior chamber)
• symptoms of infection in adjacent structures or distant site

Management

• immediate referral to ophthalmology for intravitreal antibiotics
