Doppler Sonography

Introduction

• A diagnostic instrument that emits an ultrasonic beam into the body, based on the principle of doppler effect.

• Doppler ultrasound:

• used to visualize moving blood within blood vessels & to measure its velocity

• Color doppler ultrasound:

• allows red & blue colors to be superimposed on the standard grayscale images
