Introduction

• Congenital anomaly with the viscera reversed so that the heart is on the right side (a mirror image of the normal).

Etiology

• ciliary dyskinesia (15%)

Genetics

• associated with defects in DNAH11

Clinical-manifestations

• patients are asymptomatic
• apical impulse on right side

Diagnostic-procedures

• electrocardiogram:

• inverted P waves
• inverted T waves
• QRS negative in ECG lead I & lead II

Radiology

• cardiac silhouette on right (mirror image)

• situs inversus
