Introduction

• Only females are blood feeders.

Management

• avoid mosquito bites

• wear protective clothing
• use insect repellant (DEET)
• stay in screened areas from dusk til dawn
• sleep with bed netting, preferably permethrin-treated

• Mosquito repellant:

• N,N-dimethyl-3-methylbenzamide (DEET) is best on market
• 2% soybean oil affords some protection
• eukalyptus-based repellants may afford some protection
