Clinical-significance

• cryptococcal serum antibody titers

• screening tool
• serum titer has no prognostic significance

• serologic testing for polysaccharide antigen

• serum (titer has no prognostic value)
• cerebrospinal fluid ( CSF)

• positive in 90% of CNS infections
• titer > 1:1024

• associated with poor prognosis
• suggests relapse or treatment failure
