Introduction

  • Creatinine is filtered by glomeruli, but is not reabsorbed to an appreciable extent under normal conditions. In congestive heart failure & in uncontrolled diabetes, tubular reabsorption of creatinine may occur. Creatinine is also excreted by the proximal tubules in normal individuals adding & additional 10-40% to the total creatinine in the urine.
