Introduction

• 'Light sedation' during which the patient retains airway reflexes & responses to verbal stimuli.

Management

• Versed

• 1 mg IV slowly every 2-3 min up to 5 mg [1]
• 0.035-0.100 mg/kg [2]

• Fentanyl

• 25-50 ug every 3-5 minutes, max 500 ug/4 hours [3]
• higher doses used for major surgery [4]

• Bendadryl 50 mg IV
