Introduction

• Effectiveness is increased if used in conjunction with a vaginal spermicidal agent. Spermicides contain either nonoxynol 9 or octoxynol.

• Condoms provide protection against:

• HIV (Latex condoms are 98% effective [2])
• gonorrhea
• Chlamydia
• Trichomonas
• Herpes virus
• papilloma virus
