Introduction

• radiographic study of the basal cisterns of the brain after the introduction of an opaque contrast medium (usually indium-111-DTPA) intrathecally, largely replaced by MRI

Indications

• subarachnoid hemorrhage
• CSF leakage
• normal pressure hydrocephalus
