Indications

• Chlamydia

Clinical-significance

• specificity 99%, sensitivity 84% for Chlamydia infection
• positive predictive value 87%, negative predictive value 99%

Procedure

• self-collected vaginal swab
• test results in 30 minutes - 2 hours
• 3 reagents 400 uL, 300 uL, 100 uL premeasured added to swab in sample preparation tube, gentle mixing by hand between additions
• tube capped & used a a dropper to deliver 5 drops (~ 100 uL) to a tube containing lyophylized amplification & detection reagents
• mixed until clear pink solution, then test strip coated with monoclonal antibody to Chlamydial lipopolysaccharide & including control
• solution allowed to stand for 25 minutes before reading result
• appearance of a line on the test strip indicates presence of Chlamydia
• procedure may be repeated on swab to ensure extraction of antigen from viscous vaginal swab
