Introduction

• FDA-approved 2010

Indications

• advanced androgen-insensitive prostate cancer

Dosage

• 25 mg/m2 every 3 weeks
• up to 10 cycles
• given in conjunction with prednisone 10 mg/day

Adverse-effects

• diarrhea
• neutropenia, including febrile neutropenia
• increased risk of death within 30 days of last dose

Mechanism-of-action

• binds tubulin
