Introduction
- Systemic agent: Tradename Celestone.
Indications
- seborrheic dermatitis, atopic dermatitis
- neurodermatitis
- anogenital pruritis
- psoriasis
- inflammatory phase of xerosis
- late phase of allergic dermatitis or irritant dermatitis
- fetal lung maturation
Contraindications
- Caution: Halogenated hydrocarbons should not be used on face

Dosage
- Topical agent: Tradenames: Diprosone, Valisone.
- Augmented betamethasone: Tradename: Diprolene. Very high potency (0.05%).
- Betamethasone dipropionate: high potency (0.05%).
- Lotion: 0.05% (30 mL & 60 mL)
- Cream Ointment, or topical gel: 0.05% (15 g & 45 g)
Adverse-effects
- common (> 10%)
- temporary mild blurred vision
- increased appetite
- indigestion
- insomnia
- less common (1-10%)
- uncommon (< 1%)
- hypertrichosis, acne, perioral dermatitis, maceration of skin, skin atrophy, striae, miliaria, hypertension, sudden blindness, convulsions, vertigo, confusion, headache, thin fragile skin, sterile abscess, hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation, Cushingoid state, peptic ulcer, itching, muscle weakness, osteoporosis, glaucoma, sodium retention, impaired wound healing
