Introduction

• Tradename: Panoxyl.

Indications

• adjunctive treatment of mild to moderate:

• acne vulgaris
• acne rosacea

Dosage

• wash: QD- BID
• topical: apply sparingly QD initially, the gradually increase to BID- TID PRN

• Solution: 2.5%, 4%, 5%, 10%. 1.5 oz.

Adverse-effects

• many preparations are drying to skin
• initial facial redness & irritation which resolves with continuous use
• contact dermatitis
• dryness & peeling

Mechanism-of-action

• releases active oxygen radicals resulting in a decrease in the number of anaerobic bacteria
• bactericidal & keratolytic
