Introduction

  • Any of several materials that readily separates into long flexible fibers suitable for use as a non-combustible, non- conducting, chemically-resistant insulator. High-risk occupations for asbestos exposure:
  • ship & boat building & repair
  • mining of nonmetallic mineral & stone products
  • brake line assembly
  • service in the US Navy
  • asbestos work (fabricators, miners)
  • construction work (plumbers, plasterers, sheet-metal workers)
