• APP alpha-secretase
• APP beta-secretase or beta-site APP-cleaving enzyme (BACE)
• APP gamma-secretase

Introduction

• One of the proteases that cleaves the amyloid precursor protein with with a the N-terminal fragment into the exoplasmic space. Concerted activity of the beta & gamma secretase also result in formation of the A4 amyloid peptide ( A-beta). Cleavage by alpha- secretase precludes formation of A-beta.
