Epidemiology

• pesticides contain organophosphates & carbamates
• physostigmine & neostigmine are pharmaceutical carbamates

Pathology

• both carbamates & organophosphates inhibit acetylcholinesterase

Management

• treatment for carbamate toxicity is the same as for organophosphate toxicity (see organophosphate toxicity)
