Introduction

• Found in women with paraneoplastic cerebellar degeneration.

Etiology

• associated with:
• ovarian carcinoma
• fallopian tube carcinoma
• endometrial carcinoma
• breast carcinoma
• lymphoma (less frequently)

• NOT found in:

• men with paraneoplastic cerebellar degeneration
• women with gynecologic cancer without neurologic syndrome

Laboratory

• antibody directed against 34 & 62 kD leucine-zipper proteins.
• neuronal antigen:

• Purkinje cell cytoplasmic proteins
• p34 CDR34
• p62 CDR62-1
• p62 CDR62-2

Diagnostic-procedures

• Exploratory laparotomy indicated for women with anti-Yo & without laboratory-proven cancer.
