Introduction

  • An invasive procedure to enlarge the lumen of a narrowed artery by balloon compression. The angioplasty catheter is inserted into an artery, & the cylindrical balloon is inflated at the site of an obstructing atheroma.
  • Folgard after angioplasty is controversial.
