Activin Receptor 2
From Anvita Health Wiki
Contents |
Function
- by analogy with the TGF-beta receptor system, it is likely that the type 2 activin receptor is a constitutively active kinase [2]
- phosphorylates type 1 activin receptor which subsequently intiates intracellular signalling [2]
- on ligand binding, forms a receptor complex consisting of two type II & two type I transmembrane serine/threonine kinases
- type II receptors phosphorylate & activate type I receptors which autophosphorylate, then bind & activate SMAD transcriptional regulators
- receptor for activin A, activin B & inhibin A
- interacts with AIP1
- part of a complex consisting of AIP1, ACVR2A, ACVR1B & SMAD3 ( putative)
Structure
- belongs to the protein kinase superfamily, TKL Ser/Thr protein kinase family, TGFB receptor subfamily
- contains 1 protein kinase domain
Compartment
- membrane
