Introduction
- Involves use of a portable device that measures activity over an extended period of time. It simply measures movement of a limb. It is one component of polysomnography
Indications
- evaluation of:
- circadian rhythm sleep disorders
- sleep related breathing disorders
- sleep patterns among special populations
- determination of response to therapy
- often replaces polysomnography when
- longitudinal or large scale data sets are needed
- polysomnography is not a cost-efficient option
